Reliving the past

Last month has been a month of reunion with old friends...I met Shilpa(Palekar) after 13 years and then I met Karthika (Grover) after 19 years. She was in HK with her naughty and adorable daughter Muskan for holidays and we met up. We studied together during our years in primary school in Delhi and kept in touch through greeting cards and letters (hand-written) later when my parents moved to Kolkata (at that time Calcutta) and then, Mumbai (at that time Bombay). We did meet a few times, but that was a long 20 years ago, whenever I visited Delhi.

Again it was through Face book that we reconnected after so many years...and really it was an amazing feeling to see her, and her daughter. The catching up on the various events in life, the good, the bad and the ugly times, the present, the hope for future, it was quite wonderful. Also, in hindsight everything looks much more nice and fuzzy that it did at that time.

Most of my friends, classmates, batch mates are now parents and it's really fun to be an "aunty" to the kids (Though I would not like to be called that). Frankly, I really enjoyed chatting with Karthika and it was amusing to see Muskan getting restless and entering our conversation of the old times. Reliving the past sometimes can be immensely pleasurable!!

Sometimes, I wonder, if we had no memories of our earlier days, life would be so boring. Even if people say we should not live in the past, I still believe that it's the old memories which keeps us going and pushes us towards a brighter future.
