Getting used to things!

Is it possible to get used to things, which, one as a person does not believe in or finds completely disgusting??

Yes, it is!!

I can say it with absolute certainity.I went through this amazing phenomenon via TV channels. When I moved to Hong Kong a year ago, I subscribed to few Hindi Channels to be in touch with India. Since, I had one Hindi channel with all the daily soaps (apart from a News and music channel),I used to play it in the background, after I came back from work (just to hear Hindi, after working and interacting with others full day in English). In India, I remember, I would prefer not to see the Hindi in daily soaps as I found them completely disconnected with my life in Mumbai and really thought it's drama at its worst...and now in HK, since the Hindi channels with the soap opera will play in the background every night, without wanting to, I started remembering the storylines, characters and the voices of these various TV serials. So much so, that I really wait for the next episode. It was strange, but I did find myself entangled in the complex stories of the characters.

What this tells me is that if one has no (or few options) and one is subjected to it on a consistent basis, the person does get used to it (whether one perceives it to be good/bad/disgusting)!
